SUMMARY

A ready-to-race Mk1 with great provenance and 10-year HTP

DESCRIPTION

  • A superb example of an FIA (Appendix K) 3.4-litre Mk1 racing saloon formerly owned by Allan Lloyd, the well-known Jaguar collector
  • Further developed to FIA spec by Phil Bennett and Mike Wilkinson
  • Purchased by our vendor who competed for numerous seasons in the JCC and HRDC Championships with much success. Received the 'Spirit of Jaguar' award at the Jaguar Classic Challenge annual awards and was a class winner at Le Mans in 2016
  • Sigma-built full race 3.4-litre with a straight port head and triple carburettors (refreshed in 2018)
  • All-synchro Jaguar box, competition clutch, Sayer-spec rear axle, front and rear suspension
  • Regular maintenance and further development by Mike Wilkinson. Chassis, bespoke dampers, special differential, and tuned exhaust system
  • Complies with HRDC regulations and the 10-year HTP is valid for five more years
  • Gearbox and differential also rebuilt during 2018. Extensive spares package includes Koni developed dampers, half shafts, brake discs, wheels with tyres and associated running spares
  • Great opportunity to acquire a reliable Class 1 race-winning Jaguar that has competed at the Le Mans Classic, HRDC and is eligible and known at Goodwood

The car was initially owned as a race car by Allen Lloyd, the well-known Historic racer and Jaguar collector and it remained competitive throughout his ownership prior to being sold on to Phil Bennett and Mike Wilkinson.

The car was prepared by Mike Wilkinson for HTP Inspection and a Technical Passport was granted in 2015. The car remained in this condition until 2018 at which point it was fitted with a straight port head, triple carbs, a fabricated exhaust manifold and efficient exhaust system. This specification falls in line with other Championship Regulations and makes the car highly competitive within the Jaguar Challenge, HRDC, JEC Hawthorn and HSCC.

The HTP papers are dated up to 2025 and conform to the original specification submitted. Necessary items and parts to return to the original specification are available which can be discussed with any prospective purchaser.

The car has proved to be extremely reliable and the only recent failure was due to the fuel tank foam degradation, however, in 2017, the tank was replaced completely. All safety equipment, including seat, belts, and fire systems are in date from 2019.

Should further information be required on setup and specific manufactured items, this can willingly be provided. The vendor is hoping that the future owner has as much pleasure and success as she enjoyed over the years, competing in the Jaguar Classic including Le Mans Classic 2016 (first in class), 2018, Silverstone Classic, Old-timer, Spa 6 hours, Donnington Historic and many more enjoyable races with HRDC.
