SUMMARY

A low-mileage example of one of the prettiest coupés to come out of Newport Pagnell.

DESCRIPTION

Background:

First revealed as the AMV8 Vantage concept at the 2003 North American International Auto Show, Aston Martin’s vision for a new kind of sports car became reality two years later. The production version — simply named the V8 Vantage — made its global debut at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, arriving as a 2006 model-year car.

Unlike previous Aston Martins bearing the 'Vantage' badge — typically high-performance variants of the company’s grand tourers — the new V8 Vantage was a ground-up creation. Hand-built and more compact than its stablemates, it represented a bold shift in philosophy for the iconic British marque. Leaner, more agile and more driver-focused than anything Aston had produced before, the V8 Vantage was designed to carve out a new niche.

Positioned as a direct rival to the likes of the Porsche 911, the Vantage aimed to broaden Aston Martin's appeal beyond its traditional grand touring roots. With its athletic proportions, precise handling and unmistakable styling, it marked a new era for the brand — one that embraced pure performance without sacrificing the craftsmanship and elegance synonymous with the Aston Martin name.

The Car:

This example presented here is a late 4.3-litre, paired with the collector's manual gear box. Finished in Titanium Silver over black leather, complete with light grey alcantara head-liner. Cosmetically the car is in overall good condition, with just a few minor imperfections having covered just 33,000 miles.

Mechanically the car feels excellent, a healthy shove from the 4.3 being pushed through the manual gearbox that feels box fresh. All the while being directed by the driver with nice light, communicative and reassuring steering that offers plenty of feedback. The car rides beautifully, with no knocks or rattles coming from the running gear.

For the money there really aren’t many sports cars that will turn heads like this generation of Vantage, with a soundtrack to bathe in and a manual box to engage you, this really is the perfect toy for this summer.
