SUMMARY

An exceptionally maintained and highly desirable early Vanquish, complete with 'S' specification gearbox upgrades and 17 documented services.

DESCRIPTION

Background:

Unveiled to the world in 2001, the Aston Martin Vanquish represented a bold step into the 21st century for the iconic marque. Designed by Ian Callum and built at the legendary Newport Pagnell facility, the Vanquish combined timeless Aston Martin style with cutting-edge technology. It was a true flagship – a modern day GT car powered by a naturally aspirated V12 and clad in aluminium and composite materials.

While the press initially focused on the automated manual gearbox, time has proven the Vanquish to be a far more refined and usable grand tourer than first suggested – particularly those converted to (or supplied new with) the later 'S' gearbox.

The Car:

This stunning Vanquish was registered new on 6th January 2003 and supplied by Aston Martin Knutsford. It is presented in the iconic Tungsten Silver metallic with a Charcoal leather interior. The headlining is finished in Smoke Alcantara, while the carpet is Charcoal. The options list was extensive, with the car featuring the optional 2+2 seating configuration, quilted Alcantara headlining, power-fold mirrors, body-coloured door handles, satellite navigation, heated front screen, crystal starter button, Linn premium audio system, Aston Martin-branded umbrella and the glove box accessory pack. The latter is still totally complete with notepad, Leatherman multi-tool, and the AM-branded Lamy pen.

Notably, this example benefits from the desirable 'S' gearbox upgrade. The comprehensive work included a new clutch, ASM pack and transmission control module – a transformation that markedly improves the car’s response and makes it a more engaging and enjoyable drive.

The service history is exemplary, with no fewer than 17 documented services carried out by a combination of main dealers, respected specialists and renowned marque experts, including Bamford Rose and Nicholas Mee. The records span the car’s life and demonstrate a no-expense-spared maintenance regime:

  • 2003 to 2009: Serviced by Aston Martin main agents and Works Service

  • 2010 onwards: Maintained by specialists including Bamford Rose and Stratton Motor Company

  • Most recent service: 14th August 2024 at 56,284 miles

The current mileage is just over 56,500 and the car has seen only light summer use since its last service. It is offered freshly MOT'd and includes the full original book pack, battery conditioner, Aston Martin car cover, umbrella, first aid kit and both sets of keys.

Cosmetically, the car presents beautifully. The paint retains a deep metallic lustre, the interior remains in excellent condition with supple leather and clean switchgear and the headlining and trim all speak to careful ownership. The front of the car was treated to PPF from new, which has protected it well. Leading edges, as with any 22 year old car, do show marks commensurate with age. Mechanically, the V12 performs strongly, and the gearbox is intuitive and far more refined than period reviewers would have you believe, thanks to the upgrade.

A true future classic, presented in excellent condition and benefiting from an outstanding history file. This Vanquish offers a rare opportunity to enjoy one of Aston Martin’s most iconic modern-era cars – ready to be used and appreciated by its next custodian.

Please note that the private plat "V200 AMV" will be removed prior to handover, but is available by separate negotiation.
