DESCRIPTION
Background:
The Jeep Wrangler TJ, introduced in 1996, marked a return to the rugged styling and off-road roots of the original Willys Jeep and CJ series. Built with a ladder frame chassis, solid axles and coil-spring suspension, it was the last Wrangler generation to fully embrace its classic heritage while offering improved road manners. The Sahara trim was the premium specification, featuring colour-coded fender flares, upgraded interiors and refined styling touches. Most UK-market examples were autos, so factory manual cars – especially in largely unmodified condition – are increasingly hard to find.
The Car:
This 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara is rare in two ways. First, it’s a manual, which was a seldom-specified transmission on these cars. Secondly, it’s more or less completely standard – a rarity among Wranglers, which are so often modified.
The lovely 4.0-litre straight-six engine is buzzy and willing, and the gearbox sharp and accurate. The removable hard top is also in good condition.
The car wears its below-average 89,000 miles extremely well. The interior is in very good condition and remains completely standard. In places, the paint has become dull and would benefit from a mop or serious polish. The bodywork is very good, with only light corrosion in places – not uncommon on these vehicles. The underside has been undersealed and presents extremely well. Both the image gallery and the video show detailed views of the exterior, underside and engine bay, which is also very clean.
History-wise, the car has a great file, with invoices detailing work over the years, along with every MOT certificate the car has ever been issued – from 2002 onwards. The book pack and handbook are also present. A fresh MOT was issued on the 10th of this month, valid until 10th June 2026.

Automobilia can be collected from The Wing over the weekend or Monday morning between 9am
and midday by prior appointment. After this time it can be collected from our offices in
Warwickshire or shipped to you at your expense.
