DESCRIPTION
Background
The original Mini was a revolution on wheels, offering iconic style and space for the masses. It was the fuel crisis-beating 'people's car' that became a fashion icon, synonymous with Britain and the 'Swinging Sixties'. The mechanical genius of the design placed the ubiquitous A-Series engine transversely across the frame, sharing its sump with the gearbox. A rubber cone suspension replaced traditional springs, accentuating the nimble, go-kart-like handling and allowing for 80% of the floorpan to be used by passengers and their luggage.
The Car
This Mini rolled out of the factory in 1993, finished in a classic Mini Red. It has been in its current ownership for 20 years and has been well cared for ever since. The car underwent a full restoration in 2008 and has only covered minimal mileage since, having only been used on dry, sunny days.
The Mini was restored in 2008 by the owner’s own family-run garage and a professional panel beater. Numerous panels were replaced due to rust, including the sills, boot floor, A-panels and front arches. With the car having only covered a few hundred miles since the restoration, it remains in fabulous condition.
Additional modifications were carried out five years ago, including the fitting of Cibie headlights, an interior retrim and a new headlining. As the car has been in storage for a long period, the vendor will carry out a new MOT and service prior to sale, ensuring it is ready for its new custodian.
In summary, this wonderful Mini is ready to be enjoyed following its restoration and is sensibly priced for any enthusiast looking for a summer toy or a unique daily driver.
