DESCRIPTION
Background:
BMW made quite the entrance in 1976 with the release of its flagship coupé, the E24, replacing the achingly pretty E9. It quickly found its market and became a strong seller over the next 15 years. Power came from BMW’s legendary straight-six engine, which evolved throughout the production run, growing from 2.7 to 3.5 litres in displacement.
The Car:
This particular 635CSi rolled off the production line in 1981 and was supplied new to the United Kingdom via L&C Auto Services, BMW House of Tunbridge Wells. Finished in the elegant Cosmos Blue paintwork, it highlights the crisp and graceful design lines of the 635. Inside, the original black leather interior remains in good condition.
Mechanically, the car feels strong and refined. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and the engine pulls consistently and quietly. The suspension is also in excellent condition, offering an impeccable ride with no knocks or rattles—a testament to its well-maintained underpinnings.
Now showing just 70,000 miles on the odometer, the car has been in the current registered ownership since 2022. It has benefitted from over £6,000 in maintenance and refurbishment since 2018, including:
- Reconditioned brake calipers, new crank sensor, water pump, and exhaust fixings (2018)
- Full service, new radiator, and new fuel and brake hoses (2021)
- New thermostat and housing, plus re-wired electric fan (2022)
