DESCRIPTION
Background
The MG Midget is one of Britain’s most beloved classic sports cars, offering spirited driving and timeless style in a compact, affordable package. The 1500 model, introduced in 1974, brought with it increased displacement and improved drivability, along with refinements to comfort and practicality. With its light weight and simple mechanicals, the Midget remains a favourite among enthusiasts for both restoration and classic motoring fun.
The Car
Finished in Mineral Blue this 1979 MG Midget 1500 is in need of a light recommissioning, mainly on the interior, but it offers an opportunity to enjoy and improve a classic sports car as you go. The bumpers have been removed for a cleaner, more purposeful look — giving it a nod to the earlier chrome-bumpered style.
The interior could benefit from a bit of attention, as shown in the photos it’s a bit tired and ripped in places, but nothing that can’t be amended, the car comes with a large amount of history and a MOT that expires early November.
Bodywork is solid, on the whole, doesn’t really need touching, with just a few small blemishes as shown. Overall, the car is structurally sound and presents a strong base for finishing a rewarding classic project.
Overall, this is a running and driving classic British sports car looking for a bit of love and attention before taking it on its next adventure.
