SUMMARY
A well kept example from long term ownership.
DESCRIPTION
Background:
The Silver Shadow was a new type of Rolls-Royce — the firm's first unitary-bodied car, aimed firmly at a new era of 'owner drivers'. It was so well engineered and beloved by customers that its basic architecture underpinned Rolls-Royce saloons into the late 1990s.
The Silver Shadow II featured lightly revised styling with updated bumpers and sharper steering. However, with such a compelling blend of luxury and comfort, little else needed changing. In 1977, the model was renamed the Silver Shadow II in recognition of several major changes, most notably rack and pinion steering, modifications to the front suspension improved handling markedly.
The Car:
This Walnut Brown Shadow II left the Crewe Works in August 1977 and is offered here ready to enjoy, having been in the custody of the present owner for 20 years.
In the last five years, the rear arches have been replaced and subsequently undersealed. More recently, within the last 12 months, it has benefited from a service, a new rear damper, new rear brake calliper, new rear pads and new handbrake cables.
The car presents well, with no rust issues and bright, well presented paintwork. The interior is likewise excellent, with lightly patinated leather and superb wood veneer.
The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file, which chronicles extensive expenditure by the present keeper, ensuring it remains in fine running order.
