SUMMARY

A running and driving project ready to be enjoyed once again.

DESCRIPTION

Background
Introduced by Rolls-Royce in 1971 as a development of and replacement for the Mulliner Park Ward Silver Shadow, the Corniche was powered by a 6.75-litre, double overhead-cam V8 engine, coupled to a 3-speed automatic transmission sourced from General Motors. Underneath, a fully independent suspension setup was chosen for optimum ride comfort, using coil springs augmented by hydraulic self-levelling, early cars benefiting from the system on all four wheels.
Inside, the Corniche retained the exceptional levels of opulence and comfort expected of Rolls-Royce, with sumptuous leather seating and an array of creature comforts ensuring all occupants travelled in style, whether in the front or rear.

The Car
This 1971 example has been restored in recent years by its previous owners. It has received various new parts including new sills and a bare-metal respray in 2017. However, having spent some time in storage, it is now due for recommissioning to return it to its former glory.

The car comes with a wealth of history, including its original Bill of Sale, numerous MOT certificates and invoices dating back to the early 1990s. Originally supplied by Jack Barclay, it was later sold to Regency Garage. It was finished in Silver Mink with a dark blue interior and specified with a number of advanced options for the time, such as fog lamps, radial tyres, sun-dimming glass throughout, a stereo and tape player and a rear height control valve, all features ahead of their time in the early 1970s.

In summary, this represents a fantastic opportunity to return a superb piece of British engineering to the road. Ideal for weekend getaways in the countryside or stylish cruising through the capital.
