SUMMARY

Fully restored Riley One-Point-Five, converted to left-hand drive.

DESCRIPTION

Background
Produced between 1957 and 1965, the Riley One-Point-Five and its sibling, the Wolseley 1500, were built by Riley and Wolseley respectively. The two models shared much of their underpinnings with the Morris Minor, including the floorpan, suspension, and steering, however unlike the Minor, they came equipped with a more powerful 1,489cc B-Series engine and the same gearbox used in the MG Magnette, giving these compact saloons a bit more power on the road.

The Car
Finished in classic Old English White with its original red leather interior, this Riley One-Point-Five exudes period charm and originality. Supplied new to P. Pyke and Co. of Plymouth on 30th April 1964, the car remains a striking example of mid-century British motoring. Its well finished interior and elegant exterior reflect the understated luxury that defined the model, offering great insight into an era when craftsmanship and character were at the heart of car design.

Expertly restored by renowned Riley specialist, James W. Green of Lincolnshire, this example has undergone a comprehensive rebuild to an exceptional standard, with a documented build cost of £15,450. Every detail has been meticulously addressed, ensuring the car not only retains its original charm but also benefits from enhanced reliability and finish. It has been fitted with an alternator conversion, brake servo, silicone brake fluid and a coolant refresh. This Riley presents as well as it sounds and is truly an exceptional example of the marque.

The car was converted to left-hand drive so a previous owner could use it in France. The conversion was professionally carried out, with no expense spared.

In summary, this is a lovely example of a very rare car, sensibly priced and perfect as an entry level classic or for a collector.
