90s hot hatches steal the spotlight at Iconic Auctioneers' Wheeler Dealer Live Classic Sale

• Iconic 90s hot hatches achieve great auction results, led by £51,750 Ford Escort RS Cosworth
• KSI's Volkswagen Lupo from the Sidemen Car Challenge achieves £5,626 sale

90s Hot Hatches

Classic Car Auctions by Iconic Auctioneers witnessed a continued strong interest for 90s hot hatches during their Classic Sale at Wheeler Dealer Live, with strong values reflecting their continued popularity. Demand was led by a remarkable concours-winning 1994 Ford Escort RS Cosworth, which sold for £51,875. Not far behind were a pristine one-owner 1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo, fetching £21,093, and a meticulously restored 1993 Renault Clio Williams Phase 1, selling at £18,000. Meanwhile, a 1992 Peugeot 309 GTi Phase 2 was purchased for £12,375 by YouTuber @autoalex, who plans to feature it in his upcoming series.
Beyond these '90s favourites, the auction featured other notable sales, including a uniquely finished 2006 Rolls-Royce Phantom, securing £76,500. A newly restored Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000, finished in striking Modena Green and believed to have matching numbers was another star of the show, achieving £49,167. At the other end of the scale, a Volkswagen Lupo 1.4 16v used by influencer, KSI, in a Sidemen Car Challenge, and still featuring many props from the video sold for £5,626.
The auction also included special charity lots following the recent tragic fire at Bicester Motion. Memorable experiences, including a dinner with Mike and Michelle Brewer, VIP BTCC tickets, memorabilia from NAPA Racing UK, and tickets to the Silverstone Festival, alongside proceeds from Iconic Auctioneers catalogue sales, raised £6,500 The Fire Fighters Charity and a charity chosen by David Chester’s family.

When the catalogue is ready there will always be a link on our home page to the E-Catalogue. Printed versions are also posted out to vendors and selected buyers and are available to purchase at the auction.

All vehicles are submitted to our internal valuation committee who between them have a wealth of experience in all makes of classic and competition cars as well as Classic and Vintage Motorcycles. The value is agreed between the specialist and the seller of the vehicle in line with current market conditions and the sellers expectations. 

Please register for your preferred method as soon as possible (online, by phone or via commission), at least 48 hours before the sale, to allow sufficient time for registration to be processed. Alternatively, you can register to bid in person when you arrive.
