F1 Cycles (DPS) produced three model types; a hardtail, a full-suspension plus another variant, and manufactured around 39 bikes in total. Customers included Tom Walkinshaw, Patrick Head and Damon Hill. The model we have for auction is a 'hardtail' which were used for mountain bike races. As a supplier of Industrial Ovens and Autoclaves for curing Carbon Fibre to DPS, the vendor was able to purchase his bike directly from the company.
Dave Price, company director, was a mountain bike enthusiast and with his connections in Formula 1 and his companies knowledge of carbon fibre, he began creating a British-made mountain bike brand at the beginning of the nineties. Bernie Ecclestone allowed them to use the Formula 1 name for the bikes.

DESCRIPTION
Formula 1 Cycles was created by David Price and Phil Sharp who are both motorsport experts in their own right and in 1987 founded DPS Composites. early pioneers of advanced (carbon) composites. Phil Sharp, whilst working at McLaren, helped build the worlds first carbon fibre chassis, the Grand Prix winning McLaren MP4. DPS traded in the world of motorsports, supplying Formula 1 and sports car teams the world over. They also made other commercial items due to their knowledge of carbon fibre.

Due to venue restrictions, all automobilia lots must be collected on Monday 26th August between 9am and 1pm.
Anything that is not collected by 1pm on Monday 26th will be taken to our secure storage facility in Warwickshire where, if your lot is not collected within two weeks, storage fees will be incurred. Shipping can be arranged at your expense, or can be collected with 48 hours notice.
