Vehicle History
Remarks
The car was purchased by Dr J.T.H Pick of Barnsely in 1976. Dr Pick traded in his e-type jaguar to buy the XJS. It is believed to be one of the first XJS to be sold by Appleyard of Barnsley. The original purchase invoice (dated 6th April 1976),the vehicle handbook, passport to service and service book are all present. Invoices for all services up until the car was laid up are present, although Dr Pick did not have the service book stamped. In the late 1980's the car developed a mechanical problem, reported to have been with the water pump at around 33,800 miles and was parked up in Dr Pick's garage in Barnsley. The last invoice in the records is dated 6th July 1988 when the care underwent a 3000 mile service and an MOT test. After the water pump problem developed, it is believed that the car then remained in Dr Pick's garage until around 2015 when Dr Pick (now deceased) sold it to a dealer who then sold it to an XJS specialist. After holding onto the car for a period and eventually realising that he would not get around to restoring it due to too many other projects, he sold the car on eBay. The present vendor purchased the car from that Ebay purchaser. Mindful of the fact that this car is a one owner XJS, which is an extremely rare beast, the owners since Dr Pick have not registered the vehicle in their name. Therefore, Dr Pick's name remains on the old style V5 document and the car is a true one owner vehicle. A Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Certificate comes with the car, which now shows a recorded mileage of 33,816, believed to be correct and supported by the service history and MOTs
