Iconic Auctioneers will offer an eclectic line-up of historic saloon cars at its Iconic Competition Car Sale on Friday 22 August at Silverstone Festival, led by the ex-Andy Rouse Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworths from the 1990 and 1988 BTCC seasons. These notable cars are milestones in the remarkable career of Andy Rouse, a key figure in touring car history.

The first Sierra RS500 on offer is the final Group A touring car raced by Andy Rouse, who achieved four BTCC championships and 60 race wins in his career. This car notably secured four victories and six podium finishes in the 1990 season. Maintained in original 'time-capsule' condition, this RS500 has remained unused in competitive racing since its last event at Silverstone in 1990, except for a brief appearance at Goodwood in 2001. It retains largely original paintwork, decals, and period-correct safety equipment, presenting an uncommon opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of unaltered motorsport heritage. (Estimate: £250,000 - £300,000)

The second is a 1988 car built and entered by Andy Rouse’s Kaliber Racing team, which achieved nine Group A victories throughout a highly competitive season. The Sierra RS500 on offer was predominantly campaigned by Rouse’s teammate and ex-Formula One driver, Guy Edwards, who achieved four podium finishes in the car. Following the 1988 BTCC season, the car continued to be raced in several Asia Pacific series, where it was further developed by Peter Brock. Benefitting from a full rebuild in 2017, with further enhancements – and more recently a top-specification Harvey Gibbs engine was fitted by the current owner. This Kaliber Sierra RS500 is on the button and ready to race. (Estimate: £180,000 - £220,000)

Also featured is the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze campaigned by Rob Huff in the 2011 WTCC season and Alain Menu in 2012. Huff's 2011 season was marked by exceptional consistency, winning four out of six of the initial races and finishing only three points behind teammate Yvan Muller in a close-run championship finale. In 2012, Alain Menu achieved six victories in the Cruze, securing second place in another competitive season. Offered direct from RML Group, which ran the works-Chevrolet WTCC team in the 2010s, this Cruze offers collectors a significant example of modern touring car history. (Estimate: £65,000 - £75,000)

The auction also includes a 1966 Lotus Cortina Mk1 FIA race car with an enviable record in top-flight historic racing, including pole position at the 2023 Goodwood Members Meeting and championship wins in 2023 and 2021. Expertly prepared by Richard Moore Racing and featuring a newly rebuilt Neil Brown engine, the Cortina holds valid FIA credentials until 2029, making it ready for competition. (Estimate: £65,000 - £75,000)
