2008 Chevron B16 Continuation

The "Chevron" marque was the brainchild of self-taught engineer Derek Bennett. It grew rapidly from Derek's own Clubman's Formula car of 1965 to an array of Championship winning sports cars and single seaters, reaching well into the 1970s. The B 16 is surely the perfect combination of raw performance and sleek and sexy good looks and it proved a popular machine amongst privateer racers, with three entered at Le Mans for the 24 hours in it's first 1969 season. Using Cosworth FVC or BMW engines in period, the car is without doubt still one of the best looking racing cars ever built and they have the exact same "wow" factor today as they did in 1969.

In 2006 Chevron started to re-make the fabulous and iconic B16 as a Continuation Car acceptable for FIA Historic Technical Passports (HTP) as a limited edition.

These cars are made completely in-house to the original specification and jigs, with often the same Engineers working on the car today who did in 1969/1970. Indeed, Chevron have five of the 'Bolton Staff' still working or directly connected to the company today. Chevron Racing Cars Ltd is the only place you can get an authentic Chevron racing car with a Chevron Chassis Plate and Continuation Chassis number.

Built by the man who is now at the helm, Vin Malkie - himself a former Bennett employee in 2008 - this car has a period correct Lester Owen BMW 2.0 Litre unit and a Hewland FT200 gearbox.

This Chevron B16 Continuation is eligible to compete in any FIA or National event dependant on the Organiser's invitation. Currently, World Sportscar Masters and V de V Endurance racing series are both accepting these cars. Of course they make fantastic Hillclimb and Sprint cars and at the very least an amazing Track Day Car too. This example has already won its spurs with victory in the ADAC 3 hours at Spa and a Class win in World Sportscar Masters.

The car is being sold with a current set of FIA HTP papers, with its bar code applied to the body-work, two set of wheels with new tyres - Dunlop Post Historic tread and Avon Rain - and both open and silenced exhaust systems. It has also had work done to its cockpit to allow for a taller driver (so 6-footers can now feel comfortable!) and has larger 90 litre fuel tanks to allow for longer running in endurance events.
