The bodywork is very good and the paintwork and glass is in very good condition. The car is double glazed which is a reason it is so incredibly quiet. With its deep metallic green paint, dark wood and cream leather this is like sitting in a luxury yacht... a yacht with afterburners!

The engine starts instantly and is utterly smooth. It accelerates cleanly and shifts through all the gears as it should in auto or manually. There is a noticeable difference between 'Comfort' and 'Sport' modes. It is incredibly quiet and the ride is very supple and controlled.

I have put 50,000 miles on the CL and it has had one problem during my ownership - a coil pack. This doesn't cause the car to stop, but is a fault and required replacement. This is a known issue and one had already been replaced by the previous owner, so now they are both relatively new. There is lots of information on these vehicles, especially in the US where they were very popular. The active suspension controls its weight incredibly well in corners and still lets it waft along as you'd expect. All four tyres are matching and in good condition.

This CL 600 has been known by me since new. The first owner was a friend of the family, who sold it to another friend. It then went to my brother who only had it for a couple of months before realising it wasn't for him. It's been fully maintained and regularly used for its entire life. I've had it maintained by the Mercedes specialist H A Locke in Rushden who understand these cars inside out. The service book is up to date and they will corroborate that it’s been maintained, serviced and MoTed with them every year. I have good recent documentation for the car, particularly for my ownership. I did get a full pack of documents with it from the previous owners but turning the house upside down during building work means I can’t currently find them.
