DESCRIPTION

The Lola B2K40 was a Le Mans Prototype developed in 2000 by Lola Cars International as a cheaper, smaller and lighter alternative to the similar Lola B2K10. Although specifically designed to compete in the SR2 Class of the Sports Racing World Cup and Grand American Road Racing Championship, it was later adapted to the LMP675 and LMP2 classes for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and American Le Mans Series.

This car is the Lola B2K40 Chassis No. HU06 SR2. Built in 2000, it was to become the FIA SR2 Sportscar Championship Winning Car in 2001 for Sportscar Team Sweden and their drivers; Larry Oberto and Thed Bjork. The car featured in the Lola Huntingdon Parade in 2008.

In 2005 the car was converted to run with a 2 litre AER Turbo Charged engine developing 600 bhp and raced successfully until the end of 2007. In 2008 the car was converted back to its original SR2 specification with a completely rebuilt 3 litre V6 Nissan from AER producing 430 bhp with many new parts, including a new air box, new exhaust system, new triple plate clutch, new air ducts and new ring gear.

Currently fitted with new silencers, the car is now quiet enough to run track days at Goodwood (105 db) and comes complete with current F.I.A papers.

This very car was the winning 2001 European Endurance Series car campaigned by the Sportscar Racing Team Sweden.

It is now a rare opportunity to own a successful piece of motorsport history that will dramatically increase in value as and when an historic series is launched for these amazing cars. Meanwhile, it is surely the ultimate track day car and a very canny investment ...
