SUMMARY

The one year only 1998 Evo V GSR is a rare sight on UK roads and this wonderfully presented, Scotia White example has now been further developed and offers over 530bhp.

DESCRIPTION

  • Dating from 1998, this fifth generation Lancer GSR was imported from Japan on 07/05/2014 and has been with its only UK keeper for 11 years
  • A one year only model, its 2-litre, DOHC, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine now used an upgraded intercooler, enlarged nozzle area in the twin-scroll turbocharger, lighter pistons, an upgraded radiator and oil-cooler to produce 280bhp
  • The Evo V featured a bigger bodyshell giving Mitsubishi the opportunity to extend the previous model’s platform, increasing brake and wheel size, adding 10mm to its track and displaying, for the first time, flared arches and much more aggressive styling
  • It was imported as a non-runner but was soon rejuvenated by our vendor. It failed a little later and the decision was taken to rebuild it with a 2.2 'stroker' kit utilising a Billet crank, BW I-beam conrods, CP pistons, BC cams & valve springs and a GT3076HTA BTCC spec full frame turbo setup. We understand that the current output is in excess of 530bhp
  • There is a substantial amount of UK paperwork with the car detailing the relevant expenditure
  • The Evo has covered just 25,909km (16,099 miles) which sounds feasible as it has been with our vendor for 11 years and previously in storage for six years
  • A superb example of a rare model finished in Scotia White and definitely worthy of your close inspection

Remarks

The fuel tank has had an extensive restoration on the outside of the tank and the inside as it had surface corrosion inside from the long term storage. I have photos of this too, the old metal tanks are a nightmare with old fuel they sweat and rust the tanks.

Vehicle History

Remarks

Dry stored all its life. Barn find imported from japan it was bought over 10 years ago as a non runner. Got the car up and running as some parts had been removed from the engine. Then had a failure so built it back up with a 2.2 stroker kit and got it mapped to 530bhp. We got a Japan first vehicle history check which is included as there was no paperwork with the car and got it registered in the uk all through the DVLA. Lots and lots of receipts of parts and work done on the car. We fitted a kph to mph speedo converter, so now it clocks up in miles it would potentially mean 500 of the kph reading is in miles. The mileage is in kilometres and is correct as far as we can tell, there’s no solid proof before us that the car has done that miles but cannot see why it is not correct, as previous to us the guy had it dry stored 6-7 years, we’ve had it 10+ years and can imagine it’s not a daily commuting car.
