SUMMARY

A custom recreation inspired by sports cars of the 1950s and based on a 2.8-litre BMW Z3, guided very attractively.

DESCRIPTION

  • Tribute Automotive's Z300S is a Z3 with 're-imagined' bodywork, designed to evoke the classic 'sports racers' of the late 1950s and early 1960s
  • The conversion retains the full monocoque bodyshell, running gear, doors and glass of the base vehicle and consequently is exempt from IVA
  • Purchased in 2013, the current owner worked with Chris Welch of Tribute Automotive, Dorset, over a period of six months and has since toured Europe
  • Powered by its original BMW 2.8-litre, M52 straight-six, coupled to a 5-speed automatic gearbox
  • Fitted with custom stainless exhaust by Powerflow who also made an air intake box to increase airflow and therefore power and torque
  • Repainted in red by Jeff Hickson, the interior is still fitted with its black BMW seats though KLF have worked to create bespoke door cards, centre piece and dash with tan leather
  • Sitting on period-style 15" wire wheels with a new black mohair hood
  • Supplied with photos of the build, original handbooks and service book, invoices from both before and after the creation, both keys
  • This one-off recreation is bound to turn heads wherever it goes and we recommend viewing to really appreciate the work that has gone into this

Remarks

There is no IVA requirement as it is a bodywork modification with no major mechanical changes. The IVA is only required if a certain number of 'points' of change are made. 4 for an engine swap, 3 for suspension changes etc. The changes I have made are no different to sticking an after market spoiler on your car apparently so it is exempt.
