DESCRIPTION
The final derivative of the XJ12 or Double Six arrived in 1979, the Series III. Like the XJ6 the XJ12 it benefited from the clean-cut, new body designed by famed Italian design house, Pininfarina. The new body featured more glass, slightly squarer lines around the roof area, plus new front and rear end styling. The Series III soldiered on until the late 1980's, outliving the XJ6 due to problems with installing the engine in the new XJ40 series. Additional sources of information suggest that the V12 engine did not in fact "soldier on to the late 80's". This was the flagship car in the Jaguar/Daimler line and was produced until the very end of 1992. The term "XJ12" is also inaccurate as this referred only to the base-trim model. The vast majority sold were the upscale V12 Sovereign or Double Six models, and for Canada only, the Jaguar V12 Vanden Plas.
This 1991 Daimler Double Six is an increasingly rare classic in regal metallic blue with light grey interior and is one of the last of the line manufactured. The car has been maintained with no expense spared and until recently was used as an "everyday driver'. Luxurious equipment includes: electric windows, mirrors, CD player, air conditioning and an on-board computer. Described by the vendor as in immaculate condition, H847 PVW has covered only 69,000 miles from new and is supplied with a full service history.
