SUMMARY
Previously family owned since new, with just 38,000 miles. A rare opportunity to own a low mileage and beautifully preserved Mk III.
DESCRIPTION
- Lovingly known within Ford as Project Carla, the Mk III Capri emerged in 1976 as a stylish evolution of the MkII. Constrained by a tight development budget, the MkIII was essentially a refreshed MkII, updated with distinctive quad headlamps, revised front wings, a sculpted bonnet, modernised bumpers and a refreshed palette of paint and interior trim options.
- First registered on 11/01/1984, this example was sold new by Page of Epsom to its original owner, who cherished it until his passing just a year later. The car was then passed to his wife - who did not drive - leaving the Capri effectively mothballed
- Finished in eye-catching Marine Blue Metallic with a factory black vinyl roof, over a period correct blue plaid interior
- Under the bonnet is the familiar 1.6-litre inline-four OHC 'Pinto' engine, producing a modest 72bhp, mated to a manual gearbox
- Having spent the better part of four decades dry-stored in a garage, the car saw only occasional use by family members only having its first MOT in 2016
- Purchased by our vendor in 2023, it was gently recommissioned with a new battery, new water pump, carburettors and a full service
- Supplied with its original dealership brochure - complete with hand-written spec notes - as well as its service book, invoices, previous MOT certificate and the original parts removed in its recommissioning
- A rare opportunity to own a low mileage, beautifully preserved and highly original example of one of Ford’s most beloved coupés
