SUMMARY

An exceptionally rare right-hand drive Alfa 6 with the legendary Busso V6, imported from South Africa and presenting in excellent condition with factory steel bodywork and Dutch Blue paintwork.

DESCRIPTION

  • This is the Type 119, or Alfa 6 – so named for the introduction of Alfa’s first V6 saloon – and this particular model features the original and much celebrated 2.5-litre ‘Busso’ V6, producing 158bhp at 5,500rpm and breathing through six individual Dellorto carburettors – one per cylinder
  • Imported from a carefully curated collection in South Africa, this right-hand drive example has benefited from the hot, dry climate, presenting as structurally original with no signs of welding and retaining its factory steel bodywork throughout
  • Finished in AR343 Blu Olandese (Dutch Blue) with grey leather upholstery, the cabin is in excellent order, in line with the car’s low and considered use over the years. All brightwork, chrome and trim remain in fine condition
  • Standard equipment was impressive for the time, including power steering, electric windows, central locking, electric door mirrors and a limited-slip differential – all in Alfa’s bid to take on the executive saloon establishment.
  • Just 12,000 Alfa 6s were built across a seven year production run, with only 128 right-hand drive cars officially imported to the UK. Survivors are now vanishingly rare and opportunities to acquire such a fine and unrestored example are few and far between
  • Mechanically, the car has recently benefited from a full carburettor tune and balance, with the engine running particularly smoothly and the ZF automatic gearbox performing well during a recent test drive
  • Now UK-registered (A239 PNB), this Alfa is tax, MOT and ULEZ-exempt and represents a compelling proposition for the dedicated Alfisti or collector seeking something rare, distinctive and truly of its time
