1978 Ferrari 308 GTS Steel Bodied ‘Carb’ Car

Introduced in 1975 at the Paris Motor Show, the 308 was to become the mainstay of the Ferrari range for the next decade. Made in both fibreglass and steel and offered with both carburettor and fuel injection, it is now being finally recognised as an all time classic shape and design with values steadily growing, notably during the last 3 years.

This particular UK right hand drive 308 is a steel bodied carburettor car that has covered a well documented total of 76,000 miles from new. Finished in Rosso Red with crema leather, it has been the recipient of extensive maintenance throughout it's life - the history file shows continual maintenance from well respected marque specialists. Receiving a new speedometer at 53,000 miles the car has been used consistently (and maintained accordingly) throughout it's life with no long periods of standing or storage. All 6 owners were clearly enthusiasts and prepared to pay for thorough upkeep to the engine, gearbox and clutch as the bills and receipts on file confirm.

Most recently our vendor purchased 4 original Cromadora wheels, an original spare wheel and 4 new tyres for a cost of £4103 in June '13. He also serviced the car and arranged for the drivers door (which had dropped) to be rectified, all at a combined cost of £3878 in April 2014. This work included a new battery, distributor cap, plug leads, rotor arm and plugs, coolant pipes, re-gas the air conditioning, new water pump and a full comprehensive service with renowned specialists 'Export 56'.

With an MOT until April 2015 this car is ready to enjoy with the reassuring knowledge that it is the right colour and spec and a model where values seem set to climb.
