DESCRIPTION

  • Developed to compete with the ever-growing Japanese market at the time in three and four-cylinder formats, this configuration was sold by both BSA and Triumph for seven years
  • Initially manufactured with the 'shoebox' tank and 'ray gun' exhausts but later developed into the more conventional design
  • 1973/74 Tridents benefitted from the addition of a hydraulic front disc brake and a 5-speed gearbox (the 'V' in the model's title)
  • Still powered by the transverse 741cc three-cylinder, offering 60bhp at 7,250rpm
  • This older restoration, matching numbers, 5-speed example is showing just 4,760 recorded miles
