1973 Porsche 911S Targa

In the early seventies, Porsche were in a "rich vein" of competition success. It`s not surprising that the 2.4 litre 911 variants of that time are considered a reflection of that engineering prowess. Race input had resulted in revised suspension pick-up points and Koni dampers enhancing the 911 'S'. Power from the 2.4 fuel injected unit had now reached 190bhp, giving a wonderful free revving engine - resulting in 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 144mph. The 915 5-speed gearbox completed the package.

Steve McQueen helped to immortalise the 911 'S' in a "reflective moment" at the Sarthe in the film "Le Mans".

Rarer than the coupe, the 911 'S' Targa offered today is one of only two in black destined for AFN UK from Stuttgart in 1973. Original to that specification, this rare Porsche is a matching numbers example, having had just three owners and covered only 87,000 miles. A comprehensive restoration has been completed only six years ago for which there is a photograhic record together with many invoices. An original steering wheel and service book are present.

With 911 'S' Coupe prices almost double the guide price here, it can only be a matter of time before 911 'S' Targas close the gap; especially with this authentic, correct and desirable spec combination.
