The AudiThe Audi 80 was a compact executive car produced from 1966 to 1996. This model debuted in Europe in and was available as either a two-door or a four-door saloon. The Audi 80 was first equipped with 1.3- and 1.5-litre SOHC 4 cylinder petrol engines. The engines were available in various power outputs. On the home market, two- and four- door saloons were available in base trim (55 or 60 PS, called simply Audi 80 and 80 S, respectively), as L models (LS with 75 PS engine) or as a more luxurious GL. Audi's design and development efforts paid off during the 1973 European Car of the Year competition where the 80 won, ahead of the Renault 5 and the Alfa Romeo Alfetta.
The Audi 80 LS offered here is possibly the finest example of this overlooked and underappreciated classic car. First registered on 3rd September 1973 to a farmer who purchased the car from Eyebury Motors in London. The original purchase invoice is still present and the dealer sticker still in the rear window. Bought as a retirement present the car was used briefly till its owner sadly passed away and it was passed down through the family and then remained unused from 1991. Brought out of storage in 2002 with just 11,000 miles on the clock the little Audi has been preserved and cherished by Audi enthusiasts and car collectors alike. It has been presented at shows and concours events, and won the Stanford Hall Concours event, where the car scored an incredible 134/140.
This is a true "time warp' piece that looks like it has just rolled off the production line. The front and rear chrome bumpers have a dazzling shine to them and all the trim, chrome, plastic and door handles are in stunning unmarked condition. The underside matches the condition of the exterior, being spotlessly clean, there is no doubt that this car has been stored in a heated dry garage and has never seen a rain drop. The original windscreen is still present with its factory sticker still attached.
Inside the car is equally as good as the outside and is in pristine and unrestored condition. The blue seats are still well sprung, the door cards spotless and seemingly new, the steering wheel unworn or marked and all the wood trim in great order.
There is a comprehensive service history tracking its minimal mileage. The original service book is present and stamped up with its early main dealer service history, which is further backed up with invoices. The original owner's manual and hand books are still present including the period sales brochures. Also in the history file are concours score sheets and old MoTs.
This car is a fantastic historic example from motoring giants Audi and we doubt that you will find another in such time warp condition to this standard.
