SUMMARY
A fine, original, single-owner example of the 49cc S 3800 VeloSolex motorised bicycle built in France. Recently recommissioned and in running order, however, not currently UK-registered.
DESCRIPTION
- The Solex motorised bicycle was conceived during World War II and marketed in 1946, with 8 million being sold between 1946 and 1988
- It became the staple diet for French teenagers and could be found in every village and town
- It lived on for almost two decades as a licensed design produced in China and in Hungary by Impex using the original tooling
- The S 3800 model is a later version of the original VeloSoleX, with a 49cc engine and a top speed of around 20 mph.
- This, one-owner example, is presented in very original condition
- Purchased new on the Kings Road in London in 1972
- Recently recommissioned and in running order
- Currently not UK-registered as it has been off the road since the early 1980s
