DESCRIPTION
Lovely useable restored Triumph TR6 in a stylish colour combination...The TR6 was the best-selling Triumph in history when production ended in 1976, but was later surpassed by the TR7, however, more than 94,000 TR6s were built, ninety per cent of them to US specification. The TR6 was a little more refined than its predecessors and featured pile carpets, plush-looking bucket seats, a traditional wooden dashboard and a full complement of instrumentation. In the US, it was powered by the six-cylinder, carburettor engine that was carried over from the TR250, while UK cars were fitted with the more powerful fuel-injected engine from the TR5, fed through a, somewhat unreliable, Lucas mechanical fuel injection system The TR6 traces its lineage back to the earlier four-cylinder Triumphs and is regarded by some as the last true Triumph.
This delightful example is most attractively finished in Sapphire Blue with a black leather interior. According to its Heritage certificate, this car was built in late 1971 and left the factory in Coventry in January 1972 as a left-hand drive export destined for British Leyland Motors Inc, in Denver, Colorado.
This fabulous TR6 has been restored at some point in the past and, as it's now right-hand drive, we assume the conversion was carried out at the same time. On returning to our shores it was first registered in the UK in 1998.
There is a history file (photo below) containing invoices for parts and work that has been carried out since the car returned to the UK, and it also contains the car's Heritage Certificate, V5c, and a valid MoT until 14/11/2016 with no advisories.
This TR6 is in excellent shape and offers classic British sports car fun for a most reasonable outlay.
