DESCRIPTION
This is a 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400, based on an original, rare, European market car that was built at the GM Factory in Antwerp, Belgium. The car has now been professionally race prepared with a 6.6 litre engine producing 426 bhp at 5,900 RPM. The engine was rebuilt by ICE Racing including an aluminium fly wheel, crankshaft damper and Tilton lightweight starter motor. Since completion the engine has only been run for just 7 hours. (The car competed in the 2012 VSCC Pomeroy Trophy)The car has been fitted with a full 6-point roll cage, Plexiglas side windows, the driver and passenger bucket seats are fitted with 4 point harnesses and there is a plumbed in fire extinguisher. The car has also been fitted with a fibreglass bonnet to keep weight at a minimum and for ease of access to the engine bay. The original steel panels are also available with the car, however they will require some attention. The car is also fitted with an aluminium fuel tank, Holley fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. As well as this it benefits from a Richmond T10 4 speed manual transmission and uprated Willwood "Superlite" 4 pot callipers with ventilated discs and a cockpit adjustable brake bias lever. Along with these modifications the car features uprated electrics such as a bespoke front end aircraft specification wiring loom, an MSD competition distributor, coil and ignition box. This race car is also road registered with an M.O.T. and (free) road tax.Running on Yokohama road/race tyres it is now eligible for the HSCC's 70's Road Sports series as well as Classic and Sportscar's Future Classic series and Bernie Chodosh's HVRA V8 series. What a value for money way into motorsport with an exciting, challenging, but rewarding car to drive!
