BSA's introduction of coil ignition, a four-speed gearbox, and a larger carburettor in 1966 did little to dent the swing to lightweight Japanese twins, however, the 4-speed Bantam Sports was a worthwhile British contender.

SUMMARY

BSA's introduction of coil ignition, a four-speed gearbox, and a larger carburettor in 1966 did little to dent the swing to lightweight Japanese twins, however, the 4-speed Bantam Sports was a worthwhile British contender.

DESCRIPTION

  • Introduced in 1966, the 173cc D10 featured coil ignition, a four-speed gearbox, a larger carburettor, and raised compression, now generating 10bhp
  • One of four versions, the Sports, although mechanically identical, offered a more performance-oriented Bantam experience
  • The Sports' distinctive styling features included chrome mudguards, Flamboyant Red paint, a fly screen, high-level exhaust, and a hump at the end of the dual seat
  • Dating from 1967, this matching numbers example was restored around 20 years ago and remains in excellent all-round condition
  • Currently in dry storage, it was in running order when put away in 2023 but may need a light recommission before use
  • Being sold as its owner cannot manage the kickstart
  • The indicated mileage believed to be original
  • No service records or additional documentation but our vendor is not aware of any accident history and there are no known mechanical issues
  • UK-registered on a current V5C
