SUMMARY
The superb history file starts with the original confirmation letter from the first owner of over 30 years and goes on! Mechanically sound with receipted bodywork rectification and ready for the final touches.
DESCRIPTION
- The Series IV differed little from its predecessor with smaller rear tailfins the only clue
- The first page of the history file starts with a letter dated 01/04/1964 from a Mr Allen of Surrey to Messrs. H Taylor & Co. of Kingston-Upon-Thames to order this Sports Tourer for £985
- Mr Allen specified Moonstone paintwork and a non-standard Azure Blue upholstery, overdrive, road speed tyres, wire wheels and a laminated windscreen
- A hardtop was ordered, at a cost of £65, and additionally a heater and demister, and reversing lamps
- Having taken delivery on the 17/06/1964, there is even an original receipt from Kenlowe confirming the purchase of a 'Thermatic' engine fan on 13/11/1964
- Mr Allen kept the car for 30 years, later favouring his Alfa Spider for continental touring
- The second owner, a Mr Rawlinson, commissioned preparatory bodywork rectification in 2002 and the detailed schedule of works carried out is extensive
- However, the final painting stages were not completed and the car left Mr Rawlinson’s 24 year ownership when it joined our vendor’s extensive Collection in 2019
- As a running and driving rolling cosmetic project in its original colour combination, it simply awaits its coat of paint and some light recommissioning
