*WITHDRAWN* 1964 Ford Mustang 289 Fastback

The Ford Mustang was first introduced on April 17th 1964 and was based on the platform of the then current Ford Falcon. Since then no less than 5 generations of this famous car have come and gone, but perhaps the original Fastback remains the most popular and easily identified.

Certainly they are now the most collectable and desirable and our matching numbers car is one of the very first produced in St. Jose, California on 27th August 1964. The chassis number tells us it was a 1965 model year, 2 door 'Fastback' built with a 289 engine and a four speed optional auto transmission. It was finished in Medium Grey with red standard bucket seats and was a 'domestic special order' with a 2.8:1 final drive ratio, exactly as it is today.

It retains its original specification, however the engine and gearbox have been restored to the very highest of standards. Driving superbly according to the vendor, it was both restored and fully repainted in 2008. The owner, an enthusiast at the time, upgraded the wheels to wider alloys, lowered and upgraded the suspension and shock absorbers, fitted new front disc brakes, power steering, front roll bar and new bushes. The engine received an Edelbrock four barrel carburettor with Edelbrock Headers and a stainless steel twin pipe exhaust system.

The car also features a big core radiator, so it now idles happily in UK traffic (!), a 'Bullit' grill, top tint windscreen, spot lights, a 'rally pack' which included additional instruments, an £800 upgraded sound system, a full centre console and 'Pony' floormats.

As values steadily rise, this car is ready to drive and enjoy today with nothing left to spend, the car is fully serviced and has a current MOT and free road tax. What are you waiting for?
