SUMMARY
Family owned since the 1960s all original BSA Rocket Gold Star.
DESCRIPTION
- The ultimate factory-built 'Café Racer', the 'Holy Grail' of Gold Stars.
- Built between 1962 and 1964 with around 1,800 produced
- A combination of the Gold Star and the 650cc A10 engine with higher compression
- This, mostly all original and unrestored, example is presented in good overall condition
- Originally shipped from the BSA factory to dealers Sid Moram in Windsor on 10 May 1963
- Purchased in the late 1960s by Stanley Birkett, a Trinidad immigrant who worked as a motor mechanic and saved up the money over a period of four years
- The bike became a statement of independence and acceptance for the young Stanley Birkett
- Moving to Cardiff in the late 1960s, Stanley became part of the Cardiff biker community and visited the Isle of Man TT and other events
- Being from West Indian heritage he was often stopped and questioned on his ability to own and be riding a BSA Rocket Gold Star
- During the 1970s, Stanley moved with work to South Africa and took the BSA with him, returning to Cardiff with the bike some years later
- He passed away in 2007, however, the bike has remained in the same family and is now up for auction
- Highly original and still complete with its original GP carb and Dunlop rims
- History file included containing numerous receipts, old RF60 log book dated 1972, and other related paperwork
- Numbers confirmed by the BSA Owners Club
- Unused for some time, engine turns over ok, but will need some recommissioning before road use
- Great opportunity to own one of the few original surviving Rocket Gold Stars
- UK-registered on a current V5C
