SUMMARY

Ray Petty-built Manx with TT provenance and confirmed by Manx expert, Andy Savage, as period correct. Complete with period photographs, 1970 TT and Manx programs, and Ray Petty correspondence. A perfect, usable addition to any serious collection.

DESCRIPTION

  • One of the most famous racing motorcycles of all time and named after the Manx Grand Prix
  • Launched initially in 1939 as an 'over the counter' race bike in either 350cc or 500cc spec and in production until the end of 1962
  • Developed continuously throughout its lifetime with the additions of double overhead-camshaft engines and 'featherbed' frames
  • This original and mostly unrestored example is presented in good overall condition
  • Originally built from parts by Ray Petty for Graham Sharp who competed in the 1970 Isle of Man TT Senior race finishing 29th
  • The bike was then ridden by Dave Bevan who competed in the 1970/1971/1972 Manx GP with a best result of 23rd having finished all 3 events
  • The bike was then retired from competition and formed part of a private collection and was stored indoors until 2020
  • Fitted with a factory fuel tank, Colin Seeley magnesium front brake and SU carburettor float bowl
  • Our vendor purchased the bike in 2020, recommissioned the bike and ran it in numerous Mallory Park classic parades up until last year
  • Unused since 2024 so may require some basic recommissioning before use
  • Confirmed by Manx expert Andy Savage as period correct
  • Complete with period photographs, 1970 TT and Manx programs, Ray Petty correspondence and other associated paperwork
  • Great example of this iconic race bike with genuine TT provenance
  • Perfect usable addition to any serious collection
