SUMMARY
A very early production example (chassis prefix G-AN1) that's benefited from a light refresh over the past 12 months.
DESCRIPTION
- The G-AN1 chassis prefix marks the earliest MG Midget MkI, introduced in 1961
- Mechanically identical to the Austin-Healey Sprite MkII, with unique MG badging and trim
- Powered by a 948cc A-Series inline-four engine. Features drum brakes on all four wheels. Simple, minimal construction enhances performance and handling. Equipped with sliding perspex sidescreens instead of roll-down windows. Praised for sharp handling and engaging road feel
- Lightly restored by the current owner over the past 12 months, who has owned it since July 2024
- Recent works include a new rear brake cylinder, new regulator, new interior trim (including seat covers and carpets), a conversion to electronic ignition and more (see Sellers Report)
- Runs and drives well, has been used occasionally and is otherwise dry stored
- Very early production cars appear to be in demand for restoration and classic car collections
