SUMMARY

An original Lotus Elite Super 95, built in 1961 and presented today in race-ready condition with a valid FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) to 31st December 2025. Eligible for numerous bluechip historic events across Europe.

DESCRIPTION

The Lotus Elite Mk14 was a revolutionary design when unveiled in 1957, featuring a fibreglass monocoque chassis, disc brakes, independent suspension all round and elegant aerodynamics courtesy of Frank Costin. Weighing in at around 600kg and powered by a Coventry-Climax engine, the Elite punched well above its weight in period, particularly in GT racing where it scored multiple class wins at Le Mans and Nürburgring.

The car offered here is a rare and genuine Super 95, built in 1961 and retaining its original chassis (EB-1947) and correct Coventry Climax FWE 1,216cc engine. Supplied originally by Western Motors of Edinburgh and long associated with historic competition, this particular Elite was sold by us ten years ago and has remained in expert hands since, as it was campaigned across the UK and Europe. It has now returned to market as one of the most race-ready and correctly presented examples currently available.

This car is offered with a valid FIA Historic Technical Passport (Form GB10101) confirming compliance in Period E: 1947–1961, FIA Class: GTS4 and registered as a Competition GT Car. The FIA identity number is 38389 and the papers are valid until 31st December 2025. The car remains eligible for a wide variety of premier historic motorsport events including FIA Pre-63 GT Series, Peter Auto (Sixties’ Endurance), Goodwood Revival (by invitation), Masters Gentlemen Drivers, HSCC Historic GT, Equipe Pre-'63, Iberian Historic Endurance and Le Mans Classic (GTS4).

Over recent weeks, the Elite has received a complete gearbox rebuild using genuine ZF components, as well as new belts, a fire extinguisher system and routine servicing, all to current FIA-specification. It is described as 'on the button' and ready for immediate use.

Mechanically correct and immaculately prepared, the Elite retains the iconic and highly competitive formula of twin SU carburettors, lightweight chassis and a beautifully balanced handling setup. Combined with its genuine period construction and proven competition credentials, this makes it an ideal entrant for the most exclusive grids across the historic racing calendar.
