SUMMARY

A matching numbers example of the superior SE model with known history, long ownership periods and much investment. A very well sorted and useable XK.

DESCRIPTION

  • The XK150 was the final incarnation of the XK Series when it appeared in May 1957, offered as either a Fixed or Drop-Head Coupé; the 'Special Equipment' (SE) package included enhancements like disc brakes, a more powerful engine with twin SU carburettors and a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves
  • The 150 retained much of the mechanical layout of the 140, sharing the same 180bhp 3.4-litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six, however differed with a higher scuttle and door line, whilst the radiator grille reverted to the thinner slats of the XK120 but was altogether wider. The bumpers were deeper and wrapped around, a curved windscreen replaced the divided one on the XK120 and 140 and much needed servo-assisted Dunlop disc brakes were fitted at each corner
  • First registered as WXM 318 via Henlys on 1st January 1959, exported to Victoria, Australia in the late 1960s with known history/provenance whilst there, including a 1999 report by Brookland Classic Cars of Victoria, saying that the car was 'totally rust-free with a sound original engine and gearbox'
  • Our vendor imported the car to the UK in 2017 and it has been in the safe hands of Historit in Bicester Heritage since. It was completely checked/overhauled mechanically by Classic Performance Engineering (June 2021 / £3,034), serviced by Dwornik Engineering (September 2024/£1,370) and treated to four new tyres from Vintage Tyre Supplies Ltd. (June 2024). It still retaining its status as a matching numbers car
