SUMMARY

A rare and beautifully engineered motorcycle from one of Italy’s more obscure marques.

DESCRIPTION

  •  Founded in Casalecchio di Reno near Bologna, Berneg debuted its first motorcycle at the Milan Trade Fair in 1955
  • That model, the Rainbow, was powered by a 158cc twin-cylinder, overhead-cam engine designed by FB Mondial engineer Alfonso Drusiani
  •  Advanced all-aluminium engine design with integral 4-speed gearbox (cast-iron cylinder block)
  • Later models, such as the Fario, featured a 173cc evolution of the same unit
  • By 1959, only the Fario Gran Turismo and Sport remained in production
  • Berneg ceased trading in 1962, having always maintained a reputation for high build quality
  • This example is believed to be an older restoration, purchased from a collector in Udine, Italy
  • Currently showing just 448km on the odometer
  • No accompanying documentation or UK-registration with this lot. If the buyer wishes to register the bike in the UK it will be their responsibility
