DESCRIPTION
DKW's F7 was an evolotion of their front drive, two cylinder two-stroke range of cars. It followed on from the F5 and would remain in production for only two years. It was, however, highly successful and slightly in excess of 80,000 were produced over the model's 2 1/2 year production life. The base model or "Reichklasse" featured the well proven 584cc twin cylinder two stroke engine with front wheel drive and a three speed transmission. The car was available as a saloon and two door cabriolet at launch, both featuring four seats. The "Meisterklasse" was the slightly more refined offering, which benefitted from a larger engine of 692cc and, in cabriolet guise, a coachbuilt body.
The Meisterklass on offer is the beneficiary of a superb and thorough restoration to what can only be noted as virtual concourse condition. Incorporating a host of Art Deco features the Meisterklasse offers highly stylish and eye catching pre-WWII motoring for the family. Far more attractive than an Austin Seven "Pearl" cabriolet of the same era, this car would be welcomed at any event all over the world, and, with its dependable air cooled 2-stroke power will happily bowl along at 50mph all day long.
Needing very little other than a mechanical running in and the finishing of 1 minor trim item, this car has been entered in the sale direct from a 90+ exhibit private motor museum, where it has sat next to a mouth watering selection of exotica, including one of EVERY variant of Mercedes-Benz 300 series. Being sold only because the focus of the collection has changed in the last 12 months, it represents a very special opportunity to benefit from many tens of thousands of euros of restoration costs, with only a proportionately small amount of work to do to take in onto any concours field or into the garage to be polished and enjoyed as a museum-quality example of German 1930's automotive design.
