DESCRIPTION
- Launched in 1935, the R12/R17 was one of the first BMW motorcycles to be fitted with telescopic front forks and 4-speed gearbox
- Pressed steel frame and an OHV engine producing 33bhp, making it the most powerful BMW produced at the time
- In production from 1935 to 1942 with a total of 36,000 produced, many were commissioned for military use and few remain intact today
- This project has been stored for over 50 years and never completed
- Being 'sold as seen', parts included as photographed
- Frame is a 1936 R12 and engine is a 1935 R17, one of the few hundred produced and incredibly rare
- Numbers confirmed by the BMW registry in Germany
- Large file included containing original R17 manual and parts book, numerous reprint documents, BMW motorcycle books, BMW club magazines, some correspondence, and an old unrelated BMW R17 V5
