Formidable, trophy-winning, Indian V-twin racer built from parts.
DESCRIPTION
- The Indian Company was formed in 1901 and by 1913 were the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, producing some 35,000 machines
- 1915 saw the introduction of the 3½ HP 498cc 'Model A' and the 5HP 684cc 'Model B'
- This 'grass track' racer was built in the 1970/80s by well known Indian enthusiast, Alf Tindell, and ridden by Alf's son Graham during the 1980s and 1990s
- Based on a c1928 Indian speedway/grass track racing frame, still retaining its identifiable steering damper and rear mudguard brackets
- Fitted with a c1928 direct-drive 1000cc Powerplus V-twin engine that suffered a cylinder issue in the 1980s. The cylinder heads were subsequently replaced by 1940s Indian Chief examples
- The original barrels included in the sale
- Indian forks are c1912, Indian clutch, a Schebler DLX carburettor and Douglas rear hub
- Fitted with coil ignition and Pilgrim oil pump with original hand pump still present for "extra oil when required"
- Presented in running order
- Featured in the Indian Owners Club magazine in 2016 and The Classic Motorcycle in January 2025, copies included
- Complete with two trophies from 1994 and 1995, as pictured
- Great opportunity to own a piece of Indian grass track history
