Formidable, trophy-winning, magazine-featured Indian T-twin racer built from parts. Based on a c.1928 Indian speedway/grass track racing frame and fitted with a c.1928 direct-drive 1,000cc Powerplus V-twin engine. In running order but not road-registered.

DESCRIPTION

  • The Indian Company was formed in 1901 and by 1913 were the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, producing some 35,000 machines
  • 1915 saw the introduction of the 3½bhp 498cc 'Model A' and the 5bhp 684cc 'Model B'
  • This 'grass track' racer was built in the 1970/1980s by well known Indian enthusiast, Alf Tindell and ridden by Alf's son, Graham, during the 1980s and 1990s
  • Based on a c.1928 Indian speedway/grass track racing frame, still retaining its identifiable steering damper and rear mudguard brackets
  • Fitted with a c.1928 direct-drive 1,000cc Powerplus V-twin engine that suffered a cylinder issue in the 1980s. The cylinder heads were subsequently replaced by 1940s Indian Chief examples
  • The original barrels included in the sale
  • Indian forks are c.1912, Indian clutch, a Schebler DLX carburettor and Douglas rear hub
  • Fitted with coil ignition and Pilgrim oil pump with original hand pump still present for 'extra oil when required'
  • Presented in running order
  • Featured in the Indian Owners Club magazine in 2016 and The Classic Motorcycle in January 2025, copies included
  • Complete with two trophies from 1994 and 1995, as pictured
