SUMMARY

A barn find 1970 Beetle offered without reserve.

DESCRIPTION

Background:
Few cars are as globally recognisable as the Volkswagen Beetle. Conceived in the 1930s and developed into mass production post-war, the Beetle's simple air-cooled mechanicals, distinctive styling and durability earned it worldwide acclaim. By 1970, the 1200 model retained much of the original charm, offering dependable motoring with accessible maintenance and an iconic silhouette.

The Car:
This 1970 Volkswagen Beetle 1200 is offered as a barn find, with a tax disc in the windscreen dated 1999, suggesting it has not been on the road for over two decades. The car was stored in a lock-up garage for approximately 20 years and is now in need of full restoration.

Structurally, it appears sound, with the footwells and sills presenting in seemingly solid condition. There are areas of surface rust visible, as well as a number of dents, commensurate with long-term storage. The engine has not been started for some time and its mechanical condition is unknown.

This Beetle represents an increasingly rare opportunity to restore a largely complete and unmodified example of one of the world’s most enduring classics. Please note a V5 is no present and will need to be applied for.
