DESCRIPTION
Background:
The fifth-generation Toyota Hilux, introduced in 1988, built upon its predecessor's reputation for rugged reliability with improved refinement, updated styling and a host of mechanical enhancements. Offered with a range of engines and body styles, it became a staple of agricultural, commercial and private use, revered worldwide for its dependability and durability.
While many were worked hard, well-preserved or professionally restored examples are now increasingly sought after, with growing interest in the Hilux both as a modern classic and as a practical heritage utility vehicle.
The Car:
First registered in 1992 and previously located in Guernsey, this example has covered just 57,000 miles from new, with the mileage warranted. It has had only two previous owners and is accompanied by its Guernsey V5 and original Toyota owner’s pack. A small history file is also present.
Having benefitted from a full professional respray, the vehicle now presents to a very high standard. The entire tub was removed for restoration, allowing the chassis to be professionally repainted and subsequently treated with Dinitrol rust protection. The car has since been detailed and ceramic coated. Two new old stock front wings were fitted during the body restoration, and the overall finish is highly impressive.
The chassis is described as excellent and the bodywork shows no signs of rust. The interior remains in very good condition with only a small tear noted to the driver’s seat bolster.
Mechanically, the Hilux is in fine order, with recent maintenance including:
• New battery
• New alternator
• New water pump
• Extensive use of genuine Toyota parts throughout
The vehicle sits on a full set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres, including the spare, and is described as being free of oil leaks.
Presented in fine cosmetic and mechanical condition, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a low-mileage, solid Hilux that has benefitted from a high level of recent care and attention.
