Derived from Land Rover’s long tradition of military service vehicles, ex-MOD Defenders are valued for their robust construction and straightforward engineering. Built to withstand demanding conditions, the 90-inch variants were widely used across various branches of the British armed forces and have since become popular with enthusiasts seeking rugged practicality and classic Land Rover character. Their simplicity, durability and ease of maintenance continue to make them appealing as both working vehicles and collectable examples of the marque’s military heritage.
The Car:
First registered in 1991, this ex-MOD Land Rover Defender 90 has recently undergone an in-house refurbishment to its original specification. Finished in olive drab with a resprayed exterior, it also benefits from a new hood fitted as part of the refresh. The chassis has been steam cleaned and wax oiled and presents in remarkably good condition for its age and previous service life.
The interior is trimmed in black vinyl in keeping with its utilitarian origins, while the vehicle rides on a matching set of five Michelin tyres. Power comes from the dependable 2495 cc naturally aspirated diesel engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. It is configured in right hand drive.
The vehicle will be sold serviced with a fresh MOT, making it ready for use with no immediate maintenance requirements.
