SUMMARY

An historic GT2 race car with a remarkable international pedigree. Built in 1973 and campaigned successfully in both the US and Europe.

DESCRIPTION

Background:
Originally completed in 1973, this car was taken straight from the showroom in Oklahoma and converted for SCCA competition. It quickly became a force to be reckoned with on the Midwest racing scene, achieving numerous wins and establishing itself as a front-running contender. By the early 1980s, it had moved to California where it was upgraded to GT2 specification. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the car remained highly competitive, consistently qualifying on pole and securing podium positions. Development continued within GT2 regulations, including the installation of a 2.8-litre engine positioned further back in the chassis, fully adjustable wishbone suspension, and a strengthened braking system.

The Car:
Imported to the UK in 2015, the car underwent a complete restoration in which every component was either rebuilt or replaced. In preparation for the 2021 season, it benefited from extensive further work including a gearbox and differential rebuild (with dedicated cooling), a new foam-filled fuel tank, a serviced fire extinguisher system, an MSD ignition upgrade, new Weber carburettors, a camshaft upgrade and an adjustable cam wheel. The result is a fully sorted historic racing car, equally suited to competitive outings or prestigious historic events.

Finished with lightweight fibreglass panels over an acid-dipped shell and running at approximately 900kg race weight, the car combines proven engineering with modern reliability. With its 2.8-litre period-correct engine delivering 237bhp and supported by a well documented specification, it offers a highly competitive package for the discerning racer.

Specification highlights include:

  • Engine: Period-correct 2.8-litre high-specification unit, dynoed at 237bhp by Dave Robello
  • Head and internals: E88 head by Slover, Carillo rods, lightened crank, 12:1 compression
  • Exhaust: Zircotec ceramic-coated headers
  • Weight: Approximately 900kg race-ready
  • Carburettors: Triple Weber setup
  • Transmission: Rebuilt gearbox (2021) with Kaaz 1.5 LSD
  • Suspension: Fully adjustable rose-jointed wishbone suspension
  • Chassis and body: Acid-dipped shell with lightweight fibreglass wings, bonnet, and boot
  • Braking system: Floating vented discs with 4-pot callipers
  • Cooling and fuel: Differential cooling system with Tilton pump, recent foam-filled aluminium tank
  • Electrical: MSD ignition system and new battery

Documentation and spares:
The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file including period race results, receipts, magazine features, and an assortment of spare parts such as wet wheels, spacers, and brakes.

A rare opportunity to acquire a race-proven GT2 car with an enviable history, exceptional specification, and continued potential for success on the track.
