SUMMARY
A rare opportunity to purchase a late 1920s Ariel 557cc side-valve engine in reportedly running order, along with a Burman gearbox and exhaust. Offered without reserve.
DESCRIPTION
- The late 1920s Ariel 557cc side-valve engine, designed by Val Page, was known for its reliability and formed the basis of several models, most notably the Model A (Standard) and Model B (Deluxe)
- The engine produced approximately 5.5hp and was known more for its sturdy, reliable power delivery and torque (especially when used with a sidecar) rather than high performance
- It used a specially heat-treated aluminium-alloy piston with a fully floating gudgeon pin
- The crankcase was ribbed for added rigidity and heat radiation
- This engine has recently been removed from a bike and is reported as running
- Accompanied by a 1920s Burman gearbox that was fitted along with the Ariel engine and is reported as ready to use
- Along with an exhaust system that came from a 1920s Black Ariel and is in clean, useable condition
- Being sold as one Lot and offered without Reserve

Please note all motorcycles must be out of the venue by 2pm on Monday 23 February due to venue restrictions. We will contact buyers after the sale to arrange either collection or transport with Moving Motorcycles.
Uplift by our motorcycle transport partners, Moving Motorcycles back to their storage facility in Northampton. £125 plus VAT. Storage will then be charged at £10 plus VAT per day.
