DESCRIPTION
Ford has been a major force in motorsport ever since the iconic GT40 shook the racing world in the 1960s, with success spanning the BTCC, endurance racing, and the World Rally Championship. Its racing pedigree has translated into road cars that combine usability with performance, from the Sierra RS Cosworth and Escort Cosworth to the Focus RS of today. The first-generation Focus RS proved divisive, its front-wheel-drive torque-steer and firm ride polarising drivers, yet over time it has become a modern classic celebrated for raw, driver-focused character.
Building on that legacy, the Mk2 Focus RS launched in 2009 as a 300bhp, turbocharged five-cylinder super-hatch. Its 2.5-litre engine produced 324lb/ft of torque, propelling the car to 60mph in under six seconds, with a top speed exceeding 160mph. Despite remaining front-wheel drive, Ford’s Revo-Knuckle suspension, Quaife limited-slip differential, wider track, stiffer chassis, and faster steering rack combined to tame the torque-steer and deliver an engaging, responsive drive. Aggressive styling, including the twin-blade rear spoiler, deep diffuser, flared arches, and 19-inch wheels, makde its intentions clear.
