The R230-generation Mercedes-Benz SL remains one of the most elegant and technically advanced models of its era, a car that combined timeless design with formidable performance. At the very top of the range sat the SL55 AMG, powered by a hand-built, supercharged 5.5-litre V8 producing some 493bhp. It was a car capable of effortless long distance touring yet, with a turn of speed that placed it firmly in supercar territory.
 
This particular car is further distinguished by the coveted and costly P030 F1 Performance Package, an £8,500 option when new. This rare upgrade sharpened the suspension, braking and steering responses, bringing the SL55 even closer to the character of AMG’s motorsport projects. Few were specified with the package, making this a highly desirable example of the breed.

The indicated mileage of 43,227 miles (at the time of cataloguing) is supported by a detailed service history which includes 12 recorded services, the stamped service book, Mercedes-Benz electronic records, specialist invoices, old MOTs and Tax Discs, and even the original purchase receipt for €158,000. It's accompanied by both keys, the original toolkit, unused puncture repair kit and compressor, and the current MOT is valid until March 2026. Early in its life Mercedes replaced the boot seals under recall. The engine mounts have also been replaced (genuine Mercedes parts) and the car's most recent service was on 8th August 2025 at 43,170 miles by a marque specialist.
