DESCRIPTION

The 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is part of the venerable R107 SL-series, which became synonymous with luxury and performance throughout its long production run from 1971 to 1989. The 280SL, with its smooth fuel-injected straight-six engine, combined the elegance of a roadster with the precision engineering Mercedes-Benz is known for. The R107 was not only a statement of style but also a highly capable touring car, offering a comfortable ride and excellent performance and the model continues to be celebrated by collectors for its timeless design, robust build quality, and classic appeal.

Supplied new by Swinford Motors Ltd of Stourbridge, and first registered on 25th February 1985, this elegant SL was purchased brand new by our vendor’s husband as a surprise 40th birthday gift for his wife back in 1985. Originally registered to her husband, it was transferred into her name in 1990, resulting in just one former keeper recorded on the V5C, but actually has enjoyed continuous ownership by the same family since new.

Finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic with a grey/cream MB-Tex interior and sitting on a set of the desirable 'Mexican Hat' alloys, this is an original UK-supplied right-hand drive car retaining desirable factory features including rear seats, and a factory hardtop. The Cherished Registration number, 185 CMJ, is also included in the sale.

Displaying only 29,578 miles at the time of cataloguing, our vendor confirms that the car has always been a second vehicle explaining its remarkably low mileage. She has also confirmed that the car retains its original engine.

Accompanying the car is its original stamped Maintenance Booklet, housed within the original Mercedes-Benz document wallet, old MOT certificates and invoices. along with the Owner’s Manual, Sales & Service UK booklet, Europa Service booklet, Pre-Delivery Checklist, Blaupunkt radio booklet and warranty, the two hood operating levers, and three sets of keys.

Uplift by EM Rogers back to their storage facility in Northampton is £175 plus VAT for a standard sized vehicle and prices start from £275 plus VAT for larger vehicles. Storage will be charged at £12 plus VAT per day from the Monday for the first 14 days then £40 + vat per week from there on.
