SUMMARY
Offering superb value for money with the versatility of being road registered, this is a well known car built for the Ferrari Club Classic Championship.
DESCRIPTION
Introduced at the 1973 Paris Motor Show, the Dino 308 GT4 was a significant departure for Ferrari in several ways. It was the first production car from Modena to feature a mid-engined V8, a layout that would become common to their core range for decades to come, along with the first production model to feature Bertone styling rather than Pininfarina bodywork. The chassis was based on the Dino 246 but was stretched to make space for a 2+2 configuration and the 3-litre V8 was integrally joined with the gearbox and featured an alloy block and heads with dual overhead camshafts fed through four Weber 40 DCNF carburettors.
Offered here is a well-known 308 built for and run in Class 2 of the Superformance Ferrari Club Classic Championship. In current long-term ownership over the last 10 years it has achieved much success with multiple visits to the podium and class wins. It has covered less than 100 miles since a £25,000 engine rebuild by RNR Performance which included all reciprocating components (new Arrow crankshaft and forged rods, forged 82mm high-compression pistons, new liners, new exhaust valves, all valve seats recut, ported and polished cylinder heads and valve clearances reset).
The overall specification is impressive and includes:
- Engine fully setup on dyno by RNR
- Front-mounted oil cooler and accu sump
- Large aluminium gearbox radiator
- Standard and refreshed gearbox and clutch
- Superformance front 310mm billet 4-pot brake kit
- Superformance rear 310mm billet 4-pot brake kit
- Braided brake lines
- AVO dampers
- Hardened rubber bushes all round
- Fire extinguisher valid to July 2026
- New harnesses valid to 2029
- 6-point welded-in roll-cage
- Three sets of wheels and tyres
Offering superb versatility by being UK road-registered and great value for money when you consider what it would cost to replicate and the recent engine rebuild, this appears to be a rare opportunity and one that may reward your closer inspection.
